============================================================
  kv — your private knowledge vault. START HERE.
============================================================

You do NOT need to be technical, and you will NOT type any code.
The setup is done for you by an AI assistant. Here's the whole thing:

STEP 1 — Read the friendly guide
--------------------------------
Open the guide and keep it handy:

    docs/SETUP-GUIDE.pdf      <-- double-click this

(If you only see SETUP-GUIDE.md, that's the same guide as plain text.)

STEP 2 — Install two things (one time)
--------------------------------------
1. Docker Desktop  —  https://www.docker.com/products/docker-desktop/
   Install it and OPEN it (leave it running).

2. An AI assistant that can work in a folder. Easiest choice:
   Cursor — https://cursor.com (a normal app you install and open)
   (Advanced users can use Claude Code instead.)

STEP 3 — Let the assistant set it up
------------------------------------
Open THIS folder in the assistant (in Cursor: File -> Open Folder),
then type this and send it:

    Set up kv for me. I'm not technical — please do the work and
    explain simply.

The assistant takes it from there: it asks you a couple of simple
questions, then installs and starts everything. The first start can
take 10-15 minutes (it downloads some files) — that's normal.

WHICH COMPUTERS?
----------------
Mac and Linux work out of the box. On Windows, install "WSL"
(Windows Subsystem for Linux) first — Docker Desktop will offer to
set this up for you. The guide has more detail.

THAT'S IT.
Everything stays on your computer. If anything looks broken, tell your
assistant "run kv doctor and fix it." When in doubt, the guide
(docs/SETUP-GUIDE.pdf) walks through every step.
